The tunnel under the Martwa Wisła is Poland's longest tunnel located beneath the bed of the Martwa Wisła (Dead Vistula) river in Gdańsk. It connects the western part of the city with Port Island, enabling drivers to bypass the congested city centre.

During the construction phase of the tunnel, we were responsible for the electrical and ICT infrastructure and the connection of video surveillance systems, weather stations, variable message signs and vehicle control systems.

ZIR Group as a subcontractor of Siemens Mobility Sp. z o.o. took over the maintenance tasks for some of the equipment and systems installed in the tunnel. We carried out maintenance and service based on exacting SLA standards, requiring strict technical and time requirements to be met.

The statistic illustrates the scale of maintenance work on the Martwa Wisła:

  • 1377.5 metres - total tunnel lenght
  • 2 tunnels with a diameter of 11 metres each
  • 112 security cameras
  • 40 loudspeakers
  • 200 power and control switchboards
  • 450 luminaires for crossing and exit lighting
  • 190 km of cables
  • approx. 29,000 cars - average daily traffic volume
