Tunel na Drogowej Trasie Średnicowej

DTŚ highway runs through Katowice, Chorzów, Świętochłowice, Ruda Śląska, Zabrze and Gliwice. It is a dual-carriageway road which connects the Upper Silesia agglomerations.The last stage of the construction of the DT was the construction of a tunnel located in Gliwice.

The tunnel was equipped with several solutions to ensure maximum safety, such as ventilation and smoke removal equipment, lighting, and monitoring with video cameras and radio communication systems. It was quite a complex task due to the tunnel's size- it is 493 mlong and varies in width from over 10 do 20 m.

Our tasks included planning the traffic organisation in and around the tunnel and carrying out traffic simulations. The task's next stage was the delivery and commissioning of equipment to meet the requirements of the designed traffic organisation..

One such case is the closure of a tunnel tube when the implemented traffic control system ensures that all vehicles can exit. In addition, by integrating the traffic control system in the tunnel with the intersections outside the tunnel, vehicles travelling along the DTŚ can be directed to the exits in advance, thereby avoiding traffic jams on the diversion routes.
